k̓m̓qin̓ - Headwaters - Coming 2027

k̓m̓qin̓ Headwaters is the Slocan Valley Housing Society’s (SVHS) newest affordable housing development located in the Village of Slocan. We are expecting it to be ready for tenants to move in by Spring 2027. If you wish to be notified when we begin taking applications, click here.  

 

k̓m̓qin̓ Headwaters includes two buildings with 10 bright and airy, fully equipped apartments. There are four 1-bedroom, two 2-bedroom and four 3-bedroom suites, all with private exterior entrances.   The lower suites are all ground level entrances; upper-level suites are accessed by a short staircase. Four of the apartments are fully accessible.

Each suite comes equipped with washer and dryer, full kitchen, heat pump for heating and cooling, and an energy recovery ventilator to ensure ideal, consistent humidity and fresh air movement.  High speed internet is available if a tenant wishes to subscribe.

 

Each ground floor unit has parking in front of their apartments with additional parking on the north end of the property for upper apartments and visitors.

 

This affordable housing is within walking distance of all Village amenities, including school, post office, bus stop, wellness centre, Village Market, etc.

Often people are curious about the criteria for tenancy at k̓m̓qin̓ Headwaters. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have lived in BC for the last 6 months. We do place importance on a person’s ties to the Slocan Valley, family, and friends. However, that is not the sole criteria. We also consider need, health, and other factors. Most importantly, a person must be able to live independently in our units. Of course, as with other renters anywhere, they can bring in home support or other support workers at their own cost.
